Political baloney

Typical political malarkey and BS used to try to prevent the truth about BSL from coming out.
A interesting post on a Rottweilers discussion board.
I'm not surprised that it's occurring in Colorado, where they're scrambling to prevent the truth from coming out. Denver is defending what I think is the third law suit about its BS...err, BSL.

Worst Canadian contest...new entrant!

I added a new entrant to the Beaver's Worst Canadian contest...
Although chico bandido has a hot post about Bryant as Worst Canadian...
http://chicobandido.blogspot.com/2007/05/worst-canadian.html

I nominated Dalton McGuinty, and this is partially why....
For reminding me of a turtle every time I see his photo.
For allowing or even directing Michael Bryant to stomp on the civil rights and safety of responsible, law abiding dog owners.
For killing dogs and puppies that had done nothing wrong.
For being cavalier about the rights, money and interests of Ontario residents.
For being silent for months, then getting all mouthy because he has to sell his brand before the October election.
For not ever just "flicking off", him and the rest of the Fiberals.
Vote, vote, vote!

Dogs times three!

Just had a preview of a friend's article which will be published in Dogs Dogs Dogs...
You can read it online at http://www.dogsx3.com/ . It's a great article about rescue dogs and dog sports.

Feel like writing a lovely letter?

Regardless of your politics or beliefs about the presence of the Canadian Forces in Iraq, I believe that we should support the men and women who are putting their lives on the line every day in a horribly hostile environment. Write them a message of support to let them know that regardless of how the politicians bicker and what the papers say, the average Jane and Joe do appreciate them.

Here's a clip from the response I received from the Canadian Forces.
=================================
The men and women of the Canadian Forces have demonstrated time and again that they will rise to any challenge. Let your CF members know you appreciate their service by sending a message using this monitored message board using the link below:

If you wish to send mail to deployed CF personnel please use the link below to the CF Personnel Support Agency’s website:

Vote for the Worst Canadian!

Guess who I nominated?

The Beaver, a Canadian history magazine, is having a Worst Canadian contest.

I nominated Michael Bryant, for....
Making responsible dog owners into second-class citizens.
Killing unoffending dogs and puppies solely because of their shape.
Wasting taxpayers' money on sham Committee hearings.
Grandstanding on the backs of responsible dog owners and dead dogs.
Having his face everywhere but on milk cartons.
Utilizing a little-known statute to seize private property, without without any evidence of unlawful activity, without any charges being laid and without a conviction in a court of law (great post on Caveat about this, http://caveat.blogware.com/blog/_archives/2007/4/27/2909317.html )

Vote now! Vote often!

Just to get past Post 13...

Since I'm slightly superstitious...

Flick off, Fiberals.

Time to stop these sick SOBs

After reading a few headlines this week, I feel like I’m living in the Roman Coliseum in the days of the emperors, when entire species were exterminated for the entertainment of the mindless, ravening masses.

Dogs burnt alive in arson on car
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uklatest/story/0,,-6594686,00.html?gusrc=ticker-103704

Dogs starved, cannibalizing
Animals die in fire, arson suspected
500 animals found in car without water, 75 dead
Dog scalded
Dozens of cattle and bison found dead, starving
Dog left in trash can, almost crushed by compactor
and too many more….

A sterling example of why not all professional sports figures should be role models for youngsters….
NBA player fights dogs, abuses animals, gets off lightly and still plays in NBA

The federal Conservatives are turning tail and supporting a lame-a** Senate bill on anti-animal cruelty that does absolutely nothing, instead of effective legislation that adequately defines and punishes animal cruelty. The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has a good press release on it.

http://ontariospca.ca/press_releases/2006/2006_dec12.html

Write the Prime Minister and the Justice Minister to let them know it’s time Canada moved its anti-cruelty legislation out of the dark ages and into the light.

E- mail to
pm@pm.gc.ca and Harper.S@parl.gc.ca or write or fax the Prime Minister’s office at:
Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A2
Telephone: (613) 992-4211
Fax: 613-941-6900

E-mail to
Nicholson.R@parl.gc.ca or write or fax the Justice Minister’s office at:
The Honourable Robert Douglas Nicholson
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada
284 Wellington Street
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0H8
Telephone: (613) 995-1547
Fax: (613) 992-7910

Find your federal MP and let him or her know that thinking Canadians are sickened by animal cruelty, and that it is time the laws were made adequate for conviction and punishment. You can find you MP by your postal code…scroll down to the bottom of the screen if the top third appears blank.

Weekly roundup

I'm being lazy tonight, a little tired from caring for the critters in my House of the Discarded. MangeDog (aka Joey) is looking much, much better, and a very kind man gave me a donation towards his medical expenses. MangeDog has discovered his voice. His loud, piercing voice. He thinks it's his duty to bark at any noise. Thank heavens, the Benadryl he's on usually puts him to sleep about half an hour after administration.
Stumpy (aka the kitten with a fracture and dislocated carpal joint, splinted and wrapped), bored after four days of cage rest, has also discovered his voice. His loud, piercing little voice. I'm rotating his brothers and sisters with him to keep him company, and occasionally letting him out for a bit of supervised movement. He's so funny to watch, such a determined little soul....the splint keeps his paw in line with his leg, the splinted leg is longer than the others, so his walk is step, step, step, swing, step, step, step, swing, to keep the splinted leg going. He wants to play so badly.

Caveat has been gardening instead of blogging, tsk tsk....

and KC Dog Blog has its usual great weekly roundup....

Convo between Dalton and Mikey

Although it's satire, this rings too true for my comfort...
